Mornings and Margin

I function at a much higher level with margin, and in my day to day work it is better if that margin is in the morning. I love a clear morning where I can exercise, then enter the day via the thoughtful morning routine that I have built for myself. A Bullet Journal review of where I left off yesterday, followed by some reading and contemplation time. As I sit here typing right now, watching the dog twitch on the couch as she dreams, I feel more ready for the tasks ahead. Some of this may be confirmation bias because I got a really great night of sleep last night. I, however, enter these days with a plan and intention. I must protect my mornings.

This one was good, and I can see why so many people liked it. I didn’t get attached to any of the characters in the way I would have expected to.

I think the last time I read this one was when I was younger than either of my sons currently are. It’s truly a gem of a fantasy book, from an era when fantasy wasn’t nearly as popular or mainstream.

Book 20 of 100.

Sometimes, the timing of when you read a book makes it resonate more with you. I feel that way about this book, which I really enjoyed. It feels like the change of seasons has started here in Atlanta, but there’s some grey winter ahead still. This one is worth reading.

I was fortunate enough to have him represent me in Congress. He was a great man, but imperfect and human like us all. This book did a great job of representing his life. I learned so much about him, and also Atlanta.

While I enjoyed the first two books in this series more than this one, it was still fun and entertaining. I do hope that there are more books in this series, slow fantasy is a soothing genre.

K.J. Parker’s brand of dark and smart humor was reliably great in the start of this new series. Can’t wait for book two.

I’ve had this blog up on micro.blog for a bit now, and just kept one of the stock themes that they offer. As I have managed to maintain a bit more momentum with posting, this has felt like it lacks the personality that I want this blog to have.

Upon futher reflection, I thought for a bit about the early 2000’s version of this site, and I decided to go back to the future. This new theme is pretty close to the spirit of that ancient one. Still some tweaking required, but it was also pretty cool to learn how Hugo works.
